Award Winner BBM&D garners Maggie
For our work on American Fitness, the Magazine of Fitness Educators, BBM&D was awarded the 2006 Maggie for Most Improved Publication from the Western Publications Association. With nearly 8,000 entries in 42 divisions, the judging criteria for the Maggie award included the magazine's overall redesign including content, readability, and several other design elements encapsulated under "editorial devices."

American Fitness joins the ranks of prestigious Maggie winners, including Road & Track, Mother Jones, PC World, Shape, and Sunset magazines.

"We took the opportunity to completely overhaul the magazine editorially and graphically," said Barbara Brown, president. "It was a terrific chance to showcase the editorial and create a more contemporary look."

BBM&D focused on a leaner, toned display of succinctly written columns, supported by robust, vivid imagery, and refined typography.

 

Restructured architecture and a more timely color palette also added to the fresh new look. "We’re delighted with it," states editor Meg Jordan. "The new brief-read, high graphic look allows our readers to stay up-to-date in all the areas that impact their fitness careers."
